AMPIA PRODUCER POWERUP

Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), Dow Theatre

AMPIA’s Producer Power Up one-day conference was an immense success, co-sponsored by ESIO, The Alberta Film Commission, Telefilm and NAIT.  With over 120 participants, including students, emerging, mid-level and senior producers as well as presenters representing major funders (Telefilm, Alberta Film Commission and ESIO), the day included sessions on funding, TELUS originals, pitching, sustainability, service production, and Artificial Intelligence, with a wealth of information offered. There were plenty of networking opportunities, as participants shared in lunch and coffee breaks. There was also a fascinating hands-on demonstration of NAIT’s Motion Capture Studio. The day was capped off by a networking reception, where participants mixed and mingled and exchanged information and key learnings.

“The Producer Power Up was a fantastic event and an inspirational day for all producers – from new to veteran. We were extremely pleased the industry experts on hand from funders and commissioners and experienced producers there to share their knowledge with the room. It shows the continued growth we are having as an industry and highlights the value we can offer year-round as a producer’s organization.” – AMPIA Co-Chair Brent Kawchuk.

A special ‘thank you’ to PPU Coordinator Desiree Burkett and AMPIA Professional Development Committee Chair Bonnie Thompson.
