Discovery Films CEO to Keynote STORY SUMMIT

AMPIA is thrilled to announce John Alan Simon as our keynote speaker for Story Summit taking place February 23-25 at The Banff Centre. Simon is a screenwriter/director/producer and Chief Executive of Discovery Films, which has recently acquired the film rights to three novels by renowned science-fiction writer Philip K. Dick and has be involved with financing, producing and marketing of successful features including The Wicker Man, The Haunting of Julia and The Howling, Part 2. 

The keynote address will be The Business of Storytelling, how to sell your intellectual property, how writers can turn themselves into smart business people and how to get your projects financed!

NSI & TELUS WORKSHOPS

The National Screen Institute – Canada (NSI) is pleased to announce its newest training initiative presented in partnership with TELUS Optik™ Local, a series of workshops entitled FROM CONCEPT TO CAMERA: Developing Your Story for the Screen.

Workshops will be held in Fort McMurray, Red Deer and Edmonton, and are free to attend. Training is delivered by NSI facilitators Rudy Thauberger, Mike Fly and Angela Heck. Emerging filmmakers and mid-career professionals are encouraged to attend this professional development opportunity to help develop their own projects and network with other filmmakers and content creators. TELUS will also provide information about its TELUS Optik Local grants and TELUS STORYHIVE.

All workshops take place from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Hollywood Heavy Hitters at Story Summit

NORM HISCOCK to Keynote March Madness!

Television Writer/Producer Norm Hiscock will be the keynote speaker at AMPIA’s 2nd Annual March Madness Professional Development Day in Edmonton. Norm has worked on hit television shows Kids in the Hall, Saturday Night Live, King of the Hill, Corner Gas, Parks and Recreation and most recently, Brooklyn Nine-Nine.  

March Madness connects delegates with the top creatives, broadcasters and influencers in the film and television industry. Delegates receive a full day of panel discussions, prizes and private pitch-meetings with Canadian Broadcasters. Keep posted for announcements of more guest speakers.

StoryWorld Quest 2014
