AMPIA announces new President

AMPIA’s 2012 AGM was held September 19, 2012. Please join us in welcoming our new president, Joe Novak for the 2012-2013 term!  Joe brings a wealth of experience to the position, and was a past president of AMPIA from 2007- 2009.  Many thanks to Josh Miller for his hard work and dedication to our organization and industry as President over the last two years.

The following directors were also approved at the AGM:

Producer Positions

Ron Scott- Prairie Dog Film and Television

Larry Day –  Pyramid Productions

Joe Novak – Bow Valley Productions

Tom Cox – Seven24 Films

Connie Edwards – Souleado Entertainment

Mike Jorgensen – Myth Merchant Productions

Undesignated Positions

Mike Shields – Jet Music Productions

Also, Mark Wood was re-appointed as treasurer, and Norm Bishop was re-appointed as secretary.  These are non-voted positions in accordance to our bylaws.

These directors join our current board members, for a full listing, click here.  Please note: the VP North and South positions will be announced soon, pending consultation with the new President.

As the financial statements were not presented at the AGM, a Special Meeting will be called for October 27 in Edmonton in conjunction with the Billington Award Luncheon, at which time the reviewed statements will be presented to the membership for approval. The statements will be made available to eligible members 30 days in advance of the meeting.

2011 State of the Industry Update

On May 28, 2011 AMPIA hosted a ‘State of the Industry Update’ with participants Jay Thomson of the Canadian Media Production Association, Valerie Creighton of the Canada Media Fund and Nick Ketchum, former senior advisor to the Canadian Radio-television & Telecommunications Commission. The session was moderated by Joe Novak of Bow River Productions, and was sponsored by Alberta Film and Telefilm Canada.
