Putorana Films is a start-up based in Calgary, Alberta, with a portfolio of short fiction, short and full-length documentary productions for the international market. Our films have been screened at film festivals in the USA, Italy, Norway, Ireland, Thailand, Romania, Bulgaria, South Africa, Venezuela and Canada, and won awards. We have managed film production in Canada, India and Colombia.
Putorana Films was founded by Vera Neverkevich, a Russian-Canadian filmmaker. Vera holds an MA of Arts in Film from Staffordshire University, UK, and a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science. Her entire life, Vera has been passionate about storytelling in all of its forms - fine art, photography, film, novels and spoken word.
- Vera's first film was a collection of interviews with colourful characters in Northern Colombia, in Spanish. Vera doesn't speak Spanish.
- Her second film was shot in the Canadian Rockies entirely at night, with a real wolf. The team watched moon cycles and filmed over five weekends, in full moon, over the course of a winter.
- Once, Vera spent a month in a winter tent, climbing the world's northernmost 7,000 m peak in Kazakhstan. And lost two teeth there (they've been fixed since).
