As one of Alberta’s most experienced productions houses, Bamboo Shoots (formerly Stir Films) has a long history producing TV commercials, corporate videos and web content. Recently we have produced spots for ATB Financial, Spin Master, Princess Auto, AUPE and Volkswagen, as well as flexing our creative muscle creating engaging corporate content for the likes of TransCanada, Tourism Calgary and the National Music Centre. We provide all productions services including writing, directing, location scouting, casting, shooting, props, lighting, editing, graphics and SFX/Sound. With our in-house staff, we are also able to act as a small, nimble crew available on short notice. Bringing years of experience to every project, we make small budgets look like big productions.

Our work has garnered us dozens of Rosie Awards from the Alberta Media Production Industry Association as well as a Canadian Screen Award – the Canadian equivalent of an Emmy – in 2016 for our production of Balletlujah, which aired nationally on CBC Television.

Our experience and quality of work also allowed us to be awarded the production of five Heritage Minutes since 2014. We were the first, and to date only, production company from Western Canada to produce these iconic pieces of Canadian culture.

Bamboo has an advantage over its competition in that the creative team not only produces corporate and commercial work but has also produced award, music and lifestyle programs for all of Canada’s major networks. This long-form style of storytelling is a skill set that most production houses do not have. It gives the team a range of styles and the experience of drawing performances and information from real, everyday people. The ability to tell stories with real people in a commercial setting comes from years of producing documentary and lifestyle content.

How do we measure success? We measure success when our clients say “Wow” the first time they see the final video, and when they pick up the phone and call us to produce their next project.
