Banff Centre and AMPIA Launch Story Studio

AMPIA and Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity are now accepting applications for Story Studio, a new program presented in partnership with the Government of Alberta and Alberta Film.

Born out of Story Summit, this two-and-a-half-day program addresses new approaches to storytelling, innovating with technology, business models for media content and more. This immersive experience aimed at post-secondary students and entry-level producers and craftspeople includes hands-on workshops and master classes in pitching, directing and other aspects of filmmaking. The application deadline is February 20 and the program runs March 9-11 (arrival date March 8).

Speakers include Avi Federgeen, who will be presenting his Indie Producing Workshop where producers will learn about how to find material to option, how to secure and develop the material, casting and much more. The session will feature a talk with line producer/production manager Linda Ambury (Hell on Wheels, Tin Star) on building a script to budget. Story Studio will also have sessions with speakers focused on documentary storytelling, new industry formats, marketing and sales/distribution.

Additional speakers include representatives from  Raven BannerGoDigital and the Canada Media Fund in addition to director Alexandra Lazarowich.
