STORY SUMMIT – Speakers Announced

Story Summit 2016, presented by AMPIA and The Banff Centre, addresses new approaches to story-telling, innovating with technology and creating sustainable and innovative production and business models of media content. This gathering of North American media, entertainment and content creators brings together the most forward thinking and knowledgeable industry professionals to share their experiences and ideas. Participants will gain the knowledge and understanding to enhance their creativity, transform their businesses, and engage technology to expand and share content on new digital interactive multi-platforms.

The Keynote address “The New Landscape of Media, Entertainment & Content” will be delivered by Conn Fishburn,  Chief Strategy Officer at Zealot Networks, asking ‘In this ever changing world of content, where do the opportunities exist?’ And ‘What new models of business and funding are available and how does content and creativity play a role?’

Notable speakers will include Caitlin Burns, who will be leading a Breakout Lab discussing ‘Digital Media Formats and Storytelling Strategies’;  Frédéric Guarino, a VR Strategist who will lead a workshop exploring ‘Sustainable Storytelling: What it takes to make it in the story business’; and Dylan Pearce and Celine Tricart, who will lead a ‘360 Storytelling & Technology’ workshop.

Other workshops and panels that will be delivered include: ‘Show Me the Money! How to Make a Living in the New Content Business’; ‘What the New Media Outlets Buy & How to Sell to Them’; and ‘Future Proofing your Content & IP for all Platforms.’ There will also be a creative workshop exploring ‘Storytelling Through the Lens’ featuring a panel of top industry Camera Operators, who will discuss what storytelling choices and creative decisions were made that went into creating onscreen experiences.

Story Summit is co-presented by AMPIA and The Banff Centre, in partnership with Western Economic Diversification Canada and On Screen Manitoba, with support from the Government of Alberta, Telefilm Canada, the Bell Fund, the Canada Media Production Association (CMPA) and TELUS Optik™ Local.
