Brandy Yanchyk is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and journalist based in Edmonton, Alberta. Her company Brandy Y Productions Inc. has produced work for the BBC, CBC’s Documentary Channel, Rogers OMNI Television, PBS, YES TV, Shaw and Deutsche Welle Radio. Whether she’s reporting on the Haida Culture on the coast or filming the Polar Bears in the north, Brandy is on a quest for the golden story and the next big adventure.

STORYHIVE Season 2 Winners

STORYHIVE announced the latest winners of the Season 2 funding stream. Fifteen projects across Alberta have been awarded $10,000 to produce a pilot web-series for Telus Optik TV. AMPIA members Vincent T. Joachim and Joanne Levenick are among the winning projects.

The selected teams will now enter Stage 2 of the competition and one lucky winner will receive $50,000 to produce an original series. Check out the selected projects on


Industry Holiday Mixer

AMPIA was part of the northern Industry Mixer in Edmonton this week. The party was hosted by DOC Alberta, AMPIA, FAVA, ACTRA, IATSE 210, and the Directors Guild of Canada with generous sponsorship from the Edmonton Film Commission and Alberta Film. Click here for photos!
