AMPIA Chairmen Joe Novak said it best, “What a difference a year can make!” This statement opened AMPIA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) that took place on Saturday, November 7 in Edmonton.
With the recent turnover of the federal government promising to increase investments to the Canada Council for the Arts, Telefilm Canada and the National Film Board, and Alberta’s NDP government committing an additional $11-million to the Alberta Media Fund, the future looks bright for our industry professionals!
Members were treated to the additional positive progress AMPIA has made in regards to our professional development activities. AMPIA held the first southern Alberta professional development day, The Calgary Dust Up in October, with record-breaking attendance and we will be working again with Createasphere (StoryWorld Quest) and the Banff Centre to bring forward Story Summit, a two-day intensive coming in February 2016.
“Yesterday was the first time we have attended the AGM and we are proud to call ourselves Producer Members! We are so impressed with everything that is being done through AMPIA, from education to lobbying to awards.”
– Sharlene Millang and Daniel Foreman (Groove Soldier Production
Following the AGM, student members attended a pre-networking cocktail reception with government officials and our top producers. We are pleased to provide these opportunities for our members to connect!
