Official Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Calgary Film Centre

Calgary Economic Development, along with the Government of Alberta and The City of Calgary, broke ground on the Calgary Film Centre. The Centre will be an important part of the film, television and creative industries sector in Southern Alberta, with over 80,000 square feet of purpose-built facilities to support indigenous, national and international screen-based productions.

Storyhive Season 2

Telus Optik TV’s STORYHIVE is now accepting applications for Season 2, searching for the next big web-series from Alberta content creators. Teams across the province can submit a 2-minute pitch video and compete for a $10,000 production grant and distribution on Telus Optik TV.

The Top 15 finalists from Stage 1 will enter Stage 2 of the competition where one winning pilot will be selected to receive a $50,000 grant to produce their full series, plus a training and mentorship opportunity! Apply by November 3, 2014.

Half man, half wolf and all cop! The Canadian feature film taking the world by storm is coming to Edmonton as part of the StoryWorld Quest conference being held at NAIT. We welcome everyone to come and see what the “FUZZ” is all about!

Join us at The Nest Pub between 6pm-8:30pm and then head over to the Shaw Theatre to see the film and meet Writer/Director Lowell Dean and Producer J. Joly for a Q & A.

PitchQuest Deadline Extended

PitchQuest submissions have been extended until October 10, 2014. Participants will be challenged to develop Digital  Media, Entertainment, Content and/or Technologies that envision and advance entertainment and storytelling experiences on the theme of “Making the Most of My City” or an open THEME of their choice. Finalists will pitch in person on October 24 with the winners announced at StoryWorld Quest.  There are $10K in prizes available. Click here for more info.

Global Visions Presents: The Culture High
