Each year, the Alberta Motion Picture Industries Association (AMPIA) proudly presents the David Billington Award to a special individual in recognition of their incomparable dedication and contribution to the growth of Alberta's film and television industry. 

David Billington was an award-winning journalist and an active proponent of the Alberta motion picture industry. The award was named in his honour and was posthumously awarded to David at the 1988 Alberta Film & Television Awards. Since that time the award has been presented each year to an individual who has had a significant impact on the film and television community in Alberta.
