Alberta Media Fund

The Alberta Media Fund (AMF) provides support to organizations and individuals involved in the Cultural Industries, which include screen-based media production, book and magazine publishing, and sound recordings. The AMF provides funding through a variety of grants:

Alberta Production Grant
Update: As part of an ongoing commitment to support Alberta’s screen-based production sector, Culture and Tourism has launched a new grant program. The new Screen-Based Production Grant replaces the Alberta Production Grant, and has new funding criteria, specific application intake windows, and stricter financial controls. The new program launched October 25, 2017 and the intake is open until November 30, 2017. Guidelines and other program details can be found here:

Project Script Development Grant

The Project Script Development Grant supports Albertan writers, directors and producers by providing financial assistance towards the creation of quality, marketable and commercial production-ready projects and/or scripts. This grant is available for original projects with a broadcast length of 30 minutes or more. Applications must involve participation of a writer and producer. The producer must be an Albertan resident.

Interactive Digital Media Grant

The Interactive Digital Media Grant supports Alberta’s digital media industry by providing a labour based grant to eligible companies, assisting organizations in expanding their workforce and encouraging Alberta talent. Organizations may apply for up to $200,000 in funding.

Post-Production, Visual Effects and Digital Animation Grant

The Post-Production, Visual Effects and Digital Animation Grant assists post-production companies with a labour based grant, encouraging activity in the post-production, visual effects and digital animation sector in Alberta. Organizations may apply for up to $200,000 in funding.
