The Blair Witch Project & Immersive Storytelling

By February 3, 2017Uncategorized

The Blair Witch Project is the perfect case study of a successful transmedia experience. After its first screening at the Sundance Film Festival in 1999, the project’s primary marketing tool was a simple website that purposefully played on the ambiguity of whether the film’s footage was a narrative or documentary. Registering more than 75 million hits, the low budget feature became a cultural phenomenon.

Mike Monello is one of the original creators of The Blair Witch Project and the current Vice President and CCO of Campfire at SapientRazorfish. Mike will be joining STORY SUMMIT to share secrets from over 15 years of being on the front line of emerging technology and storytelling in Design Principles for Immersive Storytelling (DAY 2).
