Michael Maxxis has scored a major gig with the Edmonton Oilers, filming the jumbotron segment that will air every game before the team takes the ice. The award-winning director known for his vibrant and adrenaline-fueled cinematography has spent over a decade filming music videos for artists such as Elle King, Billy Talent and City and Colour.
Edmonton’s new world-class arena Rogers Place opened early September 2016. Maxxis is thrilled to add to this spirit of renewal by showcasing a progressive, edgier side of the Oilers and the City of Edmonton.
“It’s been an experience I’ll never forget, and I hope I’ve been able to capture the spirit of the city and the team in an honest and inspiring way,” says Maxxis.
The segment will first air at the Oilers home-game on Wednesday, October 12.
